How many of us have enjoyed the tradition of Trick or Treating on Halloween as a child? Or enjoy the tradition with your children or grandchildren? The excitement of selecting a special costume, dressing up, and eagerly collecting candy to take home and devour is a memorable part of childhood. Now imagine how hard it is to enjoy this tradition if you need a wheelchair, walker, or other mobility device to get around. Almost every house has at least one step, but it may as well be 100.
Let’s change that. We’re planning a HUGE Trunk or Treat for these families. Help us show them Christ’s love by opening up our hearts and our trunks to make their night super special!
We need you! We need our Bethlehem families to join together and host Trunks for the event. You can go all out and decorate your trunk (and yourself!) or you can simply come with your car and some candy. It’s up to you, but please do consider coming. This will be the only Halloween experience for most of these children.

As many of you know our oldest daughter, Mia, was born with Spina Bifida and utilizes a wheelchair or crutches to get around. She LOVES Halloween and getting dress up in her costume. This year she is going to be a fairy along with Phoebe. We hope to make this year extra special for them!

We are part of Spina Bifida-Kansa City (sbkc.org), a local support organization for families living with the challenges of Spina Bifida. I act as the secretary. The members of our Board all have Spina Bifida or a child with SB. We decided that the best thing to do would be to host a Trunk or Treat and Bethlehem graciously offered the parking lot.
We would love to have 60 (or more) Trunks for this event. SBKC will help out with bringing tons of candy, hot dogs and s’mores for all in attendance. WE NEED YOUR TRUNKS and LOVE on Saturday, October 31, from 5:30-8:00 pm.
You may sign up in the narthex or complete the form below.
Thank you! −Christina, Tim, Mia & Phoebe Benson
