Lent… What is it and why?

Lent… What is it and why?

Lent is a period of repentant preparation for the celebration of Easter that was begun not very long after the first Easter almost two thousand years ago. The first day of Lent is called Ash Wednesday, for the practice dating back to the Old Testament of covering one’s self with ashes as a sign of remorse and repentance.

As We Have Opportunity

I am amazed at the lessons we can learn from our children. The opportunity to do good is there when we put other’s needs ahead of our own.

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and look I am with you always to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:18-20

Bethlehem Lutheran Church is a growing congregation of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.  Our church is committed to God, the Holy Scriptures and fellowship within our community.
We are a congregation with a past rich in tradition, yet very much open to the needs of our community.  Since the fall of 1986, Bethlehem has been committed to reaching the un-churched of our community with the message of Jesus Christ.
It is exciting to see how God has blessed our ministry over the years, especially as we look confidently into the future knowing He will continue to bless us as we remain faithful to Him. Please feel free to contact the Church Office if you have any questions or comments about Bethlehem or if you have any personal concerns you would like to discuss with one of our Pastors.
God’s blessings to you as you seek to know and serve Him!

Guiding Star Preschool

Guiding Star Preschool and School-age Care is an outreach ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Children are encouraged in their faith through daily devotion, chapel time, Bible stories, songs, and application of Christian living throughout their day.

Volunteer Opportunities

We invite and encourage our members to use their God-given talents and interests to build up the body of Christ through service to one another.

Whether you enjoy teaching and want to lead a small Bible study group or Sunday School class, love to sing, or you are handy with a hammer and nail, limitless opportunities to serve are available.

Ongoing serving opportunities include LWML’s Love in Action (providing meals to families during challenging times); participating in our Prayer Ministry; singing with the Jubilee Choir or Praise Team; serving with our Sunday morning worship teams (usher, greeter, audio, video); and much more!
